Netherbury FC finished the season with a flourish coming out on top in this local Derby. With both teams safe in their respective positions, this gave the sides the opportunity for players to be changed around. In fact the starting backline for Netherbury had 50 goals between them! The game started quite evenly with both sides having openings.

Netherbury comfortably overcame Milway last Saturday to cement their 3rd place finish in Division 1.

Despite missing 3 regular starters, the changes did not seem to bother the visitors as they started on the front foot. In fact the Ambers dominated the opening 15 minutes with the hosts main threat on the break away.

Netherbury's hopes of finishing runners up in Div 1 where ended last week, as their fine unbeaten league run came to end at home to Forton Rangers. After the efforts of Thursday nights Cup Final, playing a game so soon was always going to be tough and it proved too much. The Ambers started the game o,k and for the first 20 minutes enjoyed some good pressure, without to many clear cut opportunities.

Netherbury left it right until the death last weekend, scoring 2 injury time goals against local rivals Lyme Bantams, to snatch a point from what looked like a certain defeat. After a disappointing performance last week, Netherbury started very brightly and had the hosts defence under pressure early on. The Ambers had a succession of corners, which they could not make tell, Tom Franklin hit the crossbar, John Kingston hit an fierce shot just over the bar and some smart defending kept the Ambers at bay.
